faithful to each others and their conscience tells them that its better to be apart and separate and wish to separate for the better of their futures without or with another spouse rather to stay together and live in a lie relationship that may cause a lot problem to them and their children,. They say they should remain together until someone die. This kind of policy endangered the life of a married that might end up in crimes. This is tyranny on the part of this whose in position who's not allowing these people to have their rights to choose.. The sanctity here is the conscience of these individuals to have the right to choose for themselves for the better life, and the morality here is not forcing them to maintain their situation in a complicated life.. These are blind politicians in the legislative finding the root of the problem if the problem is the marriage itself. The marriage are sacred and their conscience, will and their hearts that made them a couple that sacred their marriage and not anybody so they have the rights to choose and no one can take that from them when it comes to their decisions, and that makes their personal decision a sacred. They saying this kind of things just because of having stable relationship with their couples in their part not realizing and, not placing themselves in the situation of those couples whose life are in jeopardy living together.. They don't understand this kind of circumstances.. They acting like holy persons who know not but their situation whose relationship with their spouse are stable.. Who needs a divorce if your relationship are stable.. And those sick Priests who are not allowed to marry saying this kind of things?.. They shackle this people..

These politicians should become a religious leader and preach instead, rather of having them in the legislative and make their doctrines in to a law that everyone must obligate to follow.. They paralyzed this Country because of their false faith that force to everyone.. They trying to play a saint by maintaining this kind of ignorance that everyone must see that they are called morality but the truth its nothing but hypocrisy.. This kind of hypocrisy hides the reality of whats really happening between the married couples that jeopardized their lives. And also hides the reality of most of people here are ending up in separation. They don't want a formal total separation but instead still bounding those persons in a lie, complicated annulment law (adultery bill).. This lies of Church calling themselves advocate of morality must realize the reality that people whose not in their religion are not bound on such filthy doctrines. If they believe what they believe then why force it to others... They just making fool out of this people..

-The words "put away" and "divorcement" are placed in one sentence, it means they are opposite and not the same.. How can these words are the same if they are used to separate a subject.. How can Christ said that if he put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her, and commanded Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement..

It is over used pathetic reasons ( Catholic Values)l to say that we must follow this kind of believe even most of the catholic people don't even follow them, and those people whose not even in their religion.. It is over reacting, over dramatic of them that saying that divorce destroys family, How can it be destroy when its already destroyed.. Traumatized children, Why blame divorce if the children was traumatized caused by never ending fighting of a couple who wants to be separated to each other.. Psychologically, it will heal these people after divorce.. They trying to put a fear in the mind of all people by meaningless and unreasonable that they can throw just to say that this bill is what it is to what they are trying to portrait by these who oppose it.. Many couples here are separated and have their new life with another spouse with no of these kind of psychological traumatized etch. thing, in fact the separation heals them. It just need their separation to be legalized with no lies involved (Annulment). They (The people who opposed it) living in a delusion like in a fairy land and They can't face the reality of most people here are needs to be formally legally separated before of having another spouse and continue their life and move on and live happily ever after..

They just creating fear into the hearts of men and women that condemns them (This People).. While their doing their (Church leaders and Religious leaders) unjust ways.. The only thing that they are doing to this people is creating a drugs to do not fear of dying and not having a life.. It doesn't matter if they die as long as the Church controls them even those whose not in their religion..

Other religion in this country have its own divorce law because of having no divorce bill here-

Our Constitution does recognize the equality of all religion..It shows what kind of religion this Church is, nothing but despotism in this land. And many people here ending in a separation and having another partner without formal separation. Still this people needs a legal documentation of their separation under Republic Act (Divorce Bill). Instead of going to another country just to file a divorce, why not here. And only foreign spouses can file a divorce and not our local countrymen, it shows how this kind of maltreatment treats are local people in a slave form of situation. Making Filipino people dumb and low class being or species that are not fully develop their humanity. They shackle this people.. . Their are against the liberty of the people -

They cannot manage their own ethics without interfering in the legislative, it shows how poor immoral they are. If their members don't want a divorce then let others have the benefits of it.. Their are not forcing to this bill (Divorce) and force to this bill, if this bill will be passed.. If they say that their values are good, then while go to attorney and file a divorce. That's their choice, live in a complicated annulment form of separation and live together with their wife and husband in hell until someone die in their part to get free, but don't let others be on the same situation inside this religion.. Whats a Democracy without divorce.. Let the People choose.. This kind of religion will always seek for a civil authority for all to the people be obligated to their own religious law.. This country is not a Theocracy..

Are all people are bound to this Church? It is not a problem of a person who do not believe in their doctrines to follow it and bound him or herself unto it.. Even the bible contradicts their filthy doctrines (RCC doctrines). What about those Unbelievers? or other religion who believe in divorce? and majority of the people in this Country are favoring divorce. Majority or Minority of people living in this country are equal when it comes of giving their rights reasonable and responsible. Are these people are bound and obligated to the rules of this Church (RCC)? If they say that the basis of their doctrines is the bible then what they are doing in their church.. Again this question needs to be answered by this persons who's in placed and all people who against the right of men and women of having this benefits, Are all people here in this Republic are obligate and must follow your religious doctrines? Are all people here must be under the Church law?

You only giving them two options in this Republic, and that is to follow your own unjust rules which is Unconstitutional that caused animosity and may lead to hostility, and Freedom to be free from this kind of intolerant arrogant rules which does not recognize by our Constitution and have their rights of all the people as a full citizens in this Nation..

It is hard to pass a law that people will benefits but it is easy to pass one when it comes of protecting someones ass mostly whose in position and some religious domain even it is not debated and deliberated, And passed it not knowing by the people..

THE FIRST NOVEL "NOLI ME TANGERE" (Touche Me Not)


When his novel Noli Me Tangere, came off the press in Europe, Rizal sent copies to, among others, the Governor-General of the Philippines and the Archbishop of Manila. The Governor-General, Emilio Terrero y Perinat, a 33° Mason, represented... no problem, and he protected Rizal upon his return to the islands and for as long as he held the Governor-Generalship. The Archbishop, however, presented a problem which did not go away. Rizal had become increasingly convinced of his need to campaign in person for reform in the Philippines as opposed to propagandizing from afar. His friends cautioned him not to return but failed to dissuade the idealist. On August 5, 1887, Dr. Rizal stepped ashore in Manila.

Almost immediately, serious problems emerged. The Manila Archbishop put pressure on Governor-General Terrero to ban Rizal’s book. Terrero, who had a real liking for Rizal, hesitated to suppress the book which rapidly circulated in the capital. The church authorities did not delay in publishing a condemnation of the work, but, to their chagrin, the condemnation only enhanced sales. Rizal also involved himself in a sticky matter which concerned a Dominican hacienda in Calamba. According to critics of the Dominicans, their hacienda holdings were excessive, and the friars had not paid their fair share of taxes. Rizal, when requested by the town council of Calamba, got involved in an investigation of the matter, and his report during a public meeting was highly critical of the Dominicans.

The church hierarchy did not take long to react. The Archbishop increased pressure on the Governor-General to suppress Noli Me Tangere as an inflammatory book and to arrest its author. Accordingly, Governor-General Terrero, fearing he might not be able to protect him, put pressure on Rizal to depart the country. Rizal heeded the advice and traveled to Hong Kong. EL FELIBUSTERISMO (The Reign of Greed)

Rizal’s second novel, El Filibusterismo (The Revolution), was published in 1891. The Fili speculates on the likelihood and outcome of a revolution against the Spaniards. Rizal’s views enraged the Spanish friars and colonial authorities. His parents’ property was confiscated and male members of the family were deported to the island of Mindoro, and Rizal himself was exiled to Dapitan, Mindanao, from 1892 to 1896. Accused of inciting Filipinos to revolt in 1896, Rizal was found guilty of sedition and executed by firing squad on December 30, 1896. "Senator Recto brought the bill to the Senate and Senator Jose B. Laurel Sr. who was then the Chairman of the Committee on Education sponsored the bill that consequently led to exchange of arguments from the Congress. The bill was headedly opposed by three senators namely Senator Francisco Rodrigo who was a former Catholic Action President, Senator Mariano Cuenco and Senator Decoroso Rosales who was the brother of Julio Rosales, an archbishop. Other oppositors were from Lower House namely Congressmen Ramon Durano, Marciano Lim, Jose Nuguid, Manuel Soza, Godofredo Ramos, Miguel Cuenco, Lucas Paredes, Congressmen Carmen Consing and Tecia San Andres Ziga. The Catholic Church was indirectly included in the debates and played a major role for the intervention of signing of the bill into a law. Allied with the church in battle against Rizal Bill were the Holy Name Society of the Philippines, Catholic Action of the Philippines, Legion of Mary, Knights of Columbus and Daughters of Isabela. "

"Oppositions argued that the bill would go against freedom of conscience and religion, The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) submitted a pastoral letter to which according, Rizal violated Canon Law 1399 which forbids or bans books that attack or ridicule the catholic doctrine and practices. Oppositors argued that among the 333 pages of Noli Me Tangere, only 25 passages are nationalistic while 120 passages are anti-catholic. While upon scrutiny of thetwo novels by some members of catholic hierarchial, 170 passages in Noli Me Tangere and 50 in El Filibusterismo are against catholic fatih. Furthermore, oppositors pointed out that Rizal admitted that he did not only attack the friars who acted deceptively on the Filipinos but also the catholic faith itself. Paul St. Aubain, another Duplessis orphan, said he was lobotomized at age 18 at a mental hospital in Joliette called St. Michel Archange. "I wasn't ill," he said. "They did it without my consent, without my permission. They were experimenting with me. I was a prisoner." Mr. St. Aubain, 52, said he spent 25 years in various mental institutions run by nuns in Quebec and during that time saw "other orphans who were lobotomized."

He said doctors also gave him electroshock therapy and numerous psychiatric drugs. Mr. St. Aubain now lives on welfare in Joliette. He cannot work. A Quebec law passed in 1942 allowed the nuns to sell unclaimed bodies to medical schools for $10. Many dead orphans, whose names and identities had been changed or erased, were dissected. The Orphans’ medical records and recollections of the Orphans themselves suggest the children were exploited as human guinea pigs for a new drug, chlorpromazine.
Chlorpromazine—known today by its trade names of Largactil in Canada and Thorazine in the United States—was synthesized in France before World War II for use as an anesthetic. In the years since, it has been invested with such epithets as the “chemical billy club” or “chemical lobotomy” because of its mental and physical consequences—including a “complication” known as tardive dyskinesia, a central nervous system disorder that includes involuntary, grotesque facial and body movements.
For the children, the drug submerged them in a nightmare from which they could never awaken. The purpose for the drugging and the extent and consequences of testing, including deaths, are continuing to be investigated by Freedom.

In 2004, members of the "Duplessis Orphans" asked the Quebec government to unearth an abandoned cemetery in the east end of Montreal which they believed held the remains of orphans who may have been the subject of medical experiments. According to testimony by individuals who were at the Cité de St-Jean-de-Dieu insane asylum, the orphans were routinely experimented upon and many died. The shy, soft-spoken, 65-year-old Duguay is one of the Canadian province of Quebec’s infamous Duplessis Orphans, a group of more than 5,000 children whose parents handed them over to Catholic orphanages during the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, promised their children would receive a “good education.”

Instead, psychiatrists falsely declared them mentally ill or severely retarded and warehoused them in psychiatric hospitals, enabling the Quebec government under former Premier Maurice Duplessis to receive a bounty of federal funding for their care.

Montreal (CP) - Martin Lecuyer, now 69, still chokes back tears when he talks about the abuse he first suffered when he was an 11-year-old living in an orphanage north of Montreal.

"At that time, we thought it was normal to have sex between men," an emotional Lecuyer said Thursday as Quebec announced $26 million in compensation for 1,700 Duplessis Orphans who were abused in Roman Catholic Church-run institutions in the 1940s and '50s. Many other children received the same treatment, Lecuyer told reporters.

Confronted with the evidence the government chose to trivialize the impact and refused to punish the clergy responsible. Eventually in 2001 in an attempt to stop further inquiry into the scandal, the government offered $15,000 per orphan in damages but just in certain cases. The offer outraged victims and they pressed for more damages, further investigation, and justice. How much did the Church benefit from the relabeling of orphans?:
In 2006 the Canadian government finally agreed to pay out 26 million dollars to the 1,000 to 2,000 orphans still alive if they agreed not to sue the Catholic Church. The Church never apologized. The period of Maurice Duplessis' tenure which was known for conservative and church oriented politics is called "The Great Darkness" in Canada and the treatment of the orphans as the "Canadian Holocaust." The offer of a fund was rejected by a committee of orphans. They demand a total of $56 million in individual reparations as well as an unambiguous apology from the church.

Montreal's archbishop, Cardinal Jean-Claude Turcotte, is adamant that the church did not intentionally mistreat the children. He has insisted that to render apologies for mistakes made inadvertently would sully the name of nuns who dedicated their lives to bringing up youngsters abandoned by their parents.

In a public statement that stunned many, Turcotte recently declared that the orphans ''don't deserve an apology ... [They are] victims of life.''

Duplessis Orphans get $26M from Quebec:

In order to receive the money, they will have to sign a waiver declaring they won't file any legal action against the Catholic Church.
The requirement has shocked many adult orphans, who harbour deep resentment toward the church for the pain and suffering they endured as children.

Some, like Martin Lécuyer, decided on the spot to turn down the money on principle. "It's an abomination. It's an exploitation of the [orphans]."
Financial compensation won't wipe out those memories, and with the conditions tied to money, Lécuyer says he would be letting the church off easy, he told the CBC.

"They're paying me to protect the religious communities.… It's important for me, that the church, the priests, that they recognize they were responsible for the sexual abuse, and the aggression. It's not [for] the government to set that peace," Lécuyer said.

"It's an insult, and it's the biggest proof that the government is an accomplice of the church." -

“Constitutional Rights : The Quebec government took away the Duplessis orphans rights to defend themselves in a court of law since 1995, all though four members of parliament stated that the orphans could take a lawyer at any time for their case, but it has been 11 years now that many orphans have been trying to get a lawyer for their case but to no avail.

“Lawyer Daniel Lighter, told me flatly that the Duplessis orphans case is locked shut tight since over fifteen years. The Duplessis orphans have no Constitutional rights, it all boils down to a huge cover up.”

Summary:

St Joseph's Home was originally established at Bucasia, Mackay in 1874 by Father Bucas.The Sisters of St Joseph ran the orphanage from 1876 to 1879. They were replaced by the Sisters of Mercy who ran the orphanage from 1880 to 1885. Due to health problems the Queensland Government closed the orphanage and a new orphanage known as the Meteor Park Orphanage was built in 1885 at Neerkol, 11 kms from Rockhampton. "Meteor Park" was a station property acquired by the Bishop of Rockhampton, Dr Cani, in the early 1880s. The orphanage was run by the Sisters of Mercy.

   
Child and youth migration :

The British Child migration scheme to the British Empire lasted 350 years with the final group of children departing for Australia in 1967. After World War Two children were sent to Australia from the United Kingdom as a way of increasing Australia's population and as a means of rescuing poor and abandoned children from British institutions. They were unaccompanied by families and had no such ties in Australia. Although it was claimed these children were orphans, most were not, but had been placed in state care when parents were temporarily unable to care for them because of marriage breakdown, illegitimacy and temporary economic hardship.
 
Queensland's intake was small, only 4.5 per cent of the total numbers who came to Australia. In the 1950s the Salvation Army Training Home for Boys at Riverview, near Ipswich admitted 77 boys. Between the years of 1951 and 1956, 48 children were admitted to the St Joseph's Orphanage at Neerkol, near Rockhampton.

The British, Commonwealth and State Governments contributed financially to the scheme. By 1967 all child migrants to Neerkol were discharged from state care.

The Order of the Sisters of Mercy owes its existence to an Irish Catholic nun, Sr. Catherine McAuley, who was born in County Dublin in 1778. Both parents died when she was young. She lived for many years with other families and eventually was the beneficiary of the estate of one of them.
 
"Meteor Park" was a station property at Neerkol outside Rockhampton, Queensland, acquired by the Bishop of Rockhampton, Dr Cani, in the early 1880s. It was to become an orphanage run by the Sisters of Mercy.

The first group of children is said to have moved there from the state orphanage in May 1885.

Over the years "Meteor Park" or "Neerkol" was "home" to more than 4000 children.

It closed as an orphange in 1978. -

BACKGROUND TO THE APOLOGY:

The apology was announced by Jenny Macklin, Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, on 27 October 2009. In making the announcement the Minister said:

"The apology will acknowledge that what happened in the past was both real and wrong. It will make sure that a largely invisible part of our history is put firmly on the record. And it will remind the community of what happened to many of these children – the loss of family, the loss of identity and, in the case of child migrants, the loss of their country." Broken Rites supporting sex-abuse victims of Father Reginald Durham at a Queensland orphanage- "The allegations against Durham were investigated by Rockhampton detectives. In February 1997, Father Reginald Basil Durham was charged with counts of rape and 41 of indecent dealing, involving two girls and a boy, between 1960 and 1967. When Durham's first committal hearing began in June 1997, some unpleasant secrets surfaced about sexual and physical abuse at Neerkol. One man, who was aged 59 in 1997, said that children who ran away from the orphanage were captured, stripped naked and flogged in front of the entire assembly.

Realising that the Neerkol secrets would eventually become public at Durham's trial, the church swung into damage control. The Sisters of Mercy (operators of the orphanage) published an apology to those inmates "who suffered spiritual, psychological, sexual and physical abuse at Neerkol." Bishop Heenan retracted his September 1996 denial about the abuse. In a public statement in 1998, he told Neerkol victims: "I regret that I did not acknowledge those sufferings when you first raised them and that my first reaction was one of disbelief."
